It only makes sense that I’m posting a second Currently list in the same month because January is just never going to end, is it? If you’re curious and want to read the first, click here!
Good morning, you guys, and welcome to a whole new week. How are you, and how was your weekend? Tell me all the things! I hope you had an eventful one! Ours wasn’t what I would call eventful, but that’s okay. I visited my dad in the hospital on Friday, slept most of Saturday (darn rain was so demotivating), and on Sunday we went to Buy Buy Baby to get a crib and dresser and assorted things while they were on sale (somehow we managed to save $700 on furniture, and who knew this stuff would be so $$$). We ate lunch at Freshi (my first time) and I devoured a delicious Mediterranean bowl.
I could not sleep a wink last night. I kept replaying the news of the day and I found myself irrationally devastated by Kobe Bryant’s death. All of it. That he was with his beautiful 13-year-old daughter. That his wife and three other daughters were left behind. That two children are now without parents. A young couch. A trained pilot. A mom and her daughter. No one that I know personally, and yet, my heart still aches at the loss and I don’t know why it pains so much.
Have you ever experienced this? Are these the pregnancy hormones people are always referring to?
My dad was discharged from the hospital on Saturday and it looks like he’ll need bypass surgery in March. I’m terrified, of course, but think it’s necessary and want him to find the best surgeon possible, because it’s major surgery. I’m worried about it being so close to my delivery date, but would rather he get this out of the way so he’s in good health to meet baby girl in April.
I feel like today’s post is already going off the rails. Let’s dive into the currently list, shall we?
Thinking: about the to-dos I need to get through today
Enjoying: the stillness of the morning. The fact that Milo finally stopped barking at the wind. Or whatever was setting him off. The Himalayan salt lamp I turned on this morning (thanks, Beth, for the reminder!)
Feeling: numb. Cold. Over things. Hoping the rest of the day kind of picks up and that my mood lifts
Wearing: maternity leggings (every day, you guys), long maroon sweater, socks with honey bears
Needing: to go grocery shopping for dinner tonight (crockpot tortellini soup—I’m all for set-it-and-forget-it meals)
Listening: to the soft whir of the computer
Making: plans to have the nursery painted, doctor’s appointments, arrangements for a getaway this weekend (Poconos! We are taking Milo so our babymoon just became a doggymoon but we’re excited all the same)
Eating: maple toffee instant oatmeal from Aldi
Drinking: all the water
