Y’all. I’ve totally dropped the ball on blogging lately. I can’t say I missed it. I mean, I did! I missed all of you! But the break was kind of nice and much appreciated. Things have taken kind of a weird turn in life, personally and professionally. Some days I feel I’m barely hanging in. Lots of doctor’s appointments and phone calls and life obligations. But that’s not what today’s post is about. It’s a time to reflect on goals for September, and being that we’re already 19 days into the month (!!), it feels as good a time as any to dive in—to look back on August and move forward with new goals. Because that’s really the purpose of this exercise—to grow, to learn, and challenge myself further than I did the month before. Let’s have a look back to see how I did!
Stress less: I can’t cross this out, though I would love to. If you’ve met me, you know I’m a walking ball of nerves and curly hair that’s just who I am. I started going to acupuncture regularly, which has helped to keep the anxiety under control, but it seems like an unobtainable goal sometimes so I’m not sure why I ever put it on the list in the first place, LOL. Any advice you have to share is always appreciated here!
Enjoy what’s left of summer. YES! I had a nerd day in the city with my bestie. One of my dear friends and I did kitten yoga. Bryan and I went to Asbury Park to see a concert. This summer went by so quickly, but there are a lot of standout moments that made it memorable <3 Discipline Milo: Yes! Always a challenge, this pup, but he keeps me on my toes for sure. I can’t say training has made him a totally different dog, but I realize that training requires consistency and practice and I am trying my hardest to be patient (NOTE TO SELF: never get a puppy again, ha!).
Leave work at work: Can’t cross this one off, unfortunately. But again, I’m open to suggestions 🙂 The biggest challenge for me is working from home, because there are times I get late-night emails, and I feel obligated to respond and oof. No me gusta.
Final verdict: 2 out of 4. Not too shabby.
Goals for September:
Get back to budgeting. I have a lot of credit card debt that’s mounting and sometimes it strangles me. I’d love to have it paid off by the end of the year, but I also want to be realistic. My goal is to chip away at it, month by month, so I can get back to saving for fun stuff like travel and not-so-fun stuff like emergency funds
More reading. I enjoyed my social media break a bit more than I let on but I also spent more time reading than I did watching TV or flipping through Facebook and I’d like to stick with that
Pick up the phone. How many times do you actually use your phone for calls? I’ve started answering when friends and family call rather than texting and it’s a nice change to hear their voices. I even got to Facetime with my cousin’s family recently and I realized how much I’ve missed the kiddos–they grow so fast!
Take better care of self—more exercise, less eating out
Seems pretty manageable, right? I already missed the linkup because HI, I’M PUBLISHING ON THE 19TH! But please check out some of the other goals posts below. I look forward to catching up with you all!
