Has anyone else started thinking about the holidays or am I ahead of the curve this year? I don’t typically fall prey to the Pumpkin Spice Latte craze that starts to take over mid-August (TOO SOON!) although I am sipping one now because it’s September and it’s socially acceptable. I get swept up thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas and family togetherness this time of year. Maybe because it’s one of two times a year my entire family gets together and it’s nice to break bread with the people you are forced to spend time with. Kidding. I love my family. We are small and complicated, but I wouldn’t trade them for anything 🙂
This past weekend, I visited my parents in Rockland County, NY, and my mom and I took the family dog Pedro for a walk at the nearby lake. It was a beautiful day, and many of my parents’ neighbors were out and about, zipping by on bikes and scooters. It was the scooters that held my attention as I’d never really seen them in residential areas before, though I have noticed a crazy influx over the years in NYC-area commuter towns like Hoboken (my former stomping grounds). The last time I was there to meet up for sushi, scooters were EVERYWHERE–cruising past the rest of us on two legs to head to restaurants, the trains, their homes, etc.
There’s a new scooter in town if you’re in the market for one this back to school season (or, if like me, you’re thinking about holiday shopping a bit earlier this year). The Hover-1 Journey Electric Scooter is a great way to get around campus or your neighborhood and my goodness—why wasn’t I born later in life? This would have been a lifesaver in Albany where classes were seemingly miles apart and winters unbelievably brutal. Anyway. This scooter can go 16 miles without a charge and it tackles hills at angles up to 15 degrees effortlessly, making it easier than ever to ride almost everywhere. It also folds neatly in half for easy storage, and has 8.5” tires that allow for greater stability.
I mean, really… who wouldn’t want to zip around town on one of these? Where would you take your Hover 1 Journey Electric Scooter? Let me know in the comments!

This looks like so much fun! I’ve always wanted to try an electric scooter. I think this would be a great way to travel around a busy city like Washington DC.
Cincinnati has a bunch of the scooters you can ‘rent’ and ride around town and just leave wherever. lol I’ve never used them, but they do make me want to hop on a scooter.
