I’ve come to rely heavily on music for a variety of situations in life:
Belated Promise Ring by Iron and Wine helps me get up in the morning
Could You Be Loved by Bob Marley lets me know someone is trying to reach me on my cell phone
A workout playlist motivates me on the very rare occasion that I go to the gym
Depending on my mood, Phish, Tori Amos, Jon Bellion, Dire Straits, Jimmy Cliff, and Michael Franti sing to me in the car and help me combat road rage
It’s always been that way. I don’t remember turning on the TV, preferring always to listen to the radio and my friends at the z100 Morning Zoo and classic rock later in the afternoon.
This weekend I discovered a song that I felt oddly drawn to. It was on a compilation CD that fell into my life and I must have played it at least 10 times. It’s called 40 Dogs (Like Romeo and Juliet) and maybe you know it already because apparently it’s already been out for nine (!!) years, but maybe it’ll be new to you too and we can discover and fall in love with it together.
I told B this should be our wedding song (should we decide to have an actual wedding) and he didn’t exactly agree or disagree. I think he just needs to hear it a few more times (wink wink).
We’re like Romeo and Juliet
We’re like 40 dogs; cigarettes
We’re like good times that haven’t happened yet, but will
And I can tell you where we’re gonna be
When the whole world falls to the sea:
We’ll be living ever after, happily
What was the last song you heard that made you feel something? I’m always looking for music recommendations so leave your answers in the comments!
