“We know that in September, we will wander through the warm winds of summer’s wreckage.
We will welcome summer’s ghost.” –Henry Rollins
Isn’t that quote delicious?
A lot of emotions tend to sucker punch me in the beginning of September, as I think of summer’s ghost; I get lost when I think about the prelude to autumn and the deep chill that eventually follows. It’s a time for me to reflect on friendships—both present and long gone—and I’m reminiscent for what was and grateful for all that is.
Whatever. Don’t judge me 🙂
Anyway, as we do around these here parts, I like to set a few goals each month. Let’s take a look back at August to see how I did.
- Get settled in our new home—unpack boxes, clean out the old apartment, go through storage, find my llama doormat – DONE! Finding that llama doormat made me very happy, but we still have a ways to go. But that’s how it is with settling in. You do it slowly, and I have no intention of rushing the process
Sell furniture and things we have no use for in the new place– DONE. I sold a couch and a coffee table, but still have some other odds and ends to put online
- Reevaluate my health goals—do I continue my gym membership? Should Bryan and I splurge on a Peleton? – just didn’t have time to really give this a good think, so we’ll have to revist at a later date
- Do something fun and SUMMERY! Before it’s all over. Sniff! – Sadly, I didn’t with the weather being sucky and gross. We did, however, go to a wedding and danced our butts off and also went to a food and truck fest so all was not lost!
Here are some goals for September. What’s on your list?
Think about the future of this blog
This is a biggie, and one I’ve put off for a while. I feel like I’ve lost my writing mojo and I want to desperately gain it back. I’m not sure if that means spending more hours in the week dedicated to growing my blog or taking some time apart to consider the direction I’d like to take My Pixie Blog in
Read one book
Spend more time outdoors
(We bought this house for a reason, right?)
