I don’t remember the last time I wrote up a bucket list but now seems as good a time as any, with temps soaring into the 90s all week. We received a call yesterday from Buster’s other momma that he collapsed while out with the dog walker 🙁 he’s fine now, but it was a huge scare so we rushed to pick him up and have been giving him extra love, water, and sympathy cheese. Please be careful out there, especially if you’re on the East Coast!
This season is not always my favorite. I hate to schvitz and my hair can only take so many products. Pool time is wasted on me, but put me in a backyard with a glass of Riesling and a sunset and I’ll soak in every moment. That said, I always anticipate this season, and thought I’d share a list of things I’d like to accomplish before the dog days are over.
- Pick up fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers from a farmer’s market
- Throw a vegan backyard BBQ in our new house
- Try a new restaurant and eat al fresco
- Road trip!
- Summer yoga outside, preferably with goats
- Commit to finding outdoor activities I enjoy, like walking or tennis
- Have a picnic in the park
- Visit a drive-through (I swear, this makes the list every year! One of these days, Alice)
- See fireworks
- Enjoy an outdoor concert (so far we have one lined up in Central Park)
- Order ice cream on a cone, and finish it before it runs down my fingers
What tops your summer bucket list, my friends? Let me know in the comments!

Oh no! Poor Buster! My Dakota has been schmoopy lately from all the heat and drinking tons of water.
I hope you get to do goat yoga again (and share more pics!) lol.

Oh Buster! That heat is tough on our senior babes. I hope he is doing better today. I love your bucket list! I’d add goat yoga to mine too if I knew of a place I could go and do some! I want picnics and ice cream also. And dining al fresco. Let’s do it all! Happy July my dear! XOXO

Aw, I’m glad Buster is okay! That is super scary. My dog won’t stay out too long when it’s hot but I do really want to get her one of those cooling mats and see if she likes it! It’s been really really hot where I live too, so definitely dangerous if you aren’t careful. I’ve been spending a lot of time in the pool and reading, but otherwise, I don’t venture outside much. LOL
Good luck on your summer bucket list. I love that you made one! I really want to have a picnic in the park. I say it every year and it WILL happen! I’ve had plenty of ice cream cones -yum!- but I still really want to have a root beer float. 🙂

Oooh, hope Buster is fully recovered with your TLC! Great list, Charlotte. I especially like the idea of an outdoor concert. That says summer to me! Summer goat yoga, LOL. I’ve already done the road trip last month so that’s a check!! Stay cool.

The drive-thru is a stellar idea. I remember hiding under blankets in the back of my uncle’s van so we could get a lower rate. Doesn’t seem to make sense – aren’t you charged by the car? Maybe the grown folk just wanted to cover us up for a while.
Your list sounds stellar. Consider disc golf! Best in the mornings and evenings. Midday is no joke, with heat index and air quality. also, I’d love to come to your vegan barbecue – I’ll swing by Burger King first to get my fix, and I’ll be fine!

Your list sounds a little like my list. So far we’ve hit up the beach this summer but haven’t really done anything else. If I get too hot I get angry, hah. Aww! Poor Buster! I hope the little guy is doing much better. The news said the pavement will be around 130* this week. I love the farmers market and I need to go more.

Good ideas for Summer fun. I plan to travel by motorcycle as much as I can.

Sorry about Buster – hope he is feeling better.
I love reading bucket lists and yours sounds great. The summer yoga with goats sounds amazing and I like the ice-cream one 🙂
You must be so excited to move into your new home!

I am so glad Buster is okay! We had that happen one year with my mom’s dog. It’s so scary! I would totally come to your Vegan BBQ because I find all food fascinating and I want to dabble more in vegan recipes. Looks like you have a nice list for the summer. I basically just want to get out of my house. With the heat I won’t take the baby out which means I get stuck indoors too. Although sitting outside on the porch and drinking some reisling is something I can get on board with!

That’s a fun list!
I hibernate most of the summer. it’s just too hot here. I put a lot of work into my garden this spring and just hanging back watching it while reading or eating dinner (on my enclosed lanai – safe from heat and bugs!) watching the backyard critters feels like my payoff.

Poor Buster! One of our chickens took the heat rough and I thought she was a goner but she’s totally fine and still laying eggs. Whew.
Top of my bucket list is beach side reading and raspberry picking!
