A typical night of Netflix often looks like this in our apartment:
Bryan: “Want to watch a movie?”
Charlotte: “Sure! What do we have?”
Bryan starts scrolling.
B: “You won’t like this… Not your kind of movie…”
C: “You’re going too fast! Okay, yea. Not interested. Ner. Keep going…”
I have a hard time committing to a movie. All the classics that people discuss in passing? Never saw ‘em. It’s not that I like to remain blissfully ignorant, it’s just two hours is a lot of time to commit to sitting still. So if I say I’m going to watch something, it best hold my attention for the entire two hours.
We finally landed on a movie called Inconceivable that seemed interesting—about a couple (played by Nicholas Cage and Gina Gershon) struggling with infertility and looking for a surrogate. They invite a woman with a mysterious past (Nicky Wheelan) to move in with them to act as both a nanny and surrogate.
What could possibly go wrong?!?
I wasn’t sure it was the best selection based on our current situation but the description held my attention. The movie is listed as a psychological thriller (my favorite!!); it delivers on fast-paced suspense and plot twists though some of the acting occasionally falls short. I might be biased; I’ve never been a big Nicholas Cage fan (let’s fight about it!), but Gina and Nicky are fantastic. There are a lot of what-the-fuck and don’t-open-that-door moments, and I won’t ruin the ending but I didn’t see it coming.
Have you seen a good movie on Netflix and do you have a hard time agreeing on movies to watch with your significant other? Let me know in the comments!
Happy Monday, party people! Hope everyone has a wonderful week ahead 🙂 XOXO

I’m not a huge Nicolas Cage fan either! I don’t know what it is about him – however this movie sounds interesting to me. I feel like I saw a preview for it somewhere along the way and meant to watch it at some point. I like a good mind “f” type movie if you know what I mean! I’ll have to suggest this one to my husband, we have a hard time picking movies too sometimes! <3
I’m with you on Nicholas Cage…but also love Gina. Sounds like a movie both me and my husband could watch together, and that’s pretty tough to find over here too. He’ll usually be a good sport and just watch whatever I pick, but then he’s snoring about 10 minutes in!
Inconceivable sounds intriguing! I get bored sitting still for two hours, so when I watch a movie, I usually stretch, crochet, or blog. Lol.
I feel like I am always the one agreeing to a movie with James. Occasionally he will watch something that I “really” want to watch but I’ve found it’s easier to watch my choices on my own. I love psychological thrillers.. just may have to put this on my list.
Ooh I do like a good psychological thriller, in movies and books. I need to use Netflix more. I’m kind of bad at watching movies too – it has to really keep my interest, and this is also why I’m not a good binge watcher. LOL
I recently watched I Am Not a Serial Killer on Netflix though and I really enjoyed it. It’s based on a book I read, but you don’t have to have read the book.

I’ll have to check that one out! I recently just came across People Like Us on Netflix and watched it on a whim – it was so good!
This sounds interesting. I do like young Nicholas Cage. Moonstruck? Say no more. Anywho. I love Netflix but I have to admit I spend as much time finding something to watch as I do watching it. Two hours later…I’m watching a two hour movie. Is it just me?
I am big fan of psychological thrillers and not such a big fan of Nicholas Cage, but I think I will give it a try 🙂
The challenge is caving to movies and shows not appropriate for a 13-year-old. My criteria: I’d rather have her watch violence and bad words and peril than the sexy stuff. We’ve found some awesome stuff to watch, and I even sat through and loved Must Love Dogs recently. (My crush on Ali Hillis helped a bit.) Every tried Netflix roulette? It’s a thing.
I’m so bad about movies and Netflix. I have all these things on my watchlist but when it comes time to actually watch I’m like…nah, nope, not yet…lol

Ahh.. freaky! I haven’t heard of this one but the title is rather clever.
I think our next Netflix selection will be Jumanji.
I just watched a movie on Netflix for the first time in a long time.. it was “Bridget Jones’ Baby”… I loved it. It made me laugh! 🙂
I haven’t watched a movie for awhile, but I’ve been thinking it would be a great way to relax. Luckily the one I usually watch movies with is Mina and she’s not picky. As long as she gets tummy rubs while it’s on, she’s satisfied. ?
