April Goals

– Posted in: featured

How in the heck are we already 10 days into the month of April?! I shouldn’t complain… I’m so eager to see the long winter end, and I have a closet full of skirts and dresses calling my name. The past few days of sunshine have been a dream.

As you may know, each month I like to document a few personal/career goals to help me stay on track. Let’s see how we did for the month of March!

  • Secure the brands I’ll be working with for my April birthday giveaway <YES! I was        really excited to partner with Pure Lyft caffeine sticks, Della LA sustainable fashion,        and Sophi vegan nail polish. Congrats to Kim of My Hope Whispers for winning this        giveaway!
  • Work on at least one more sponsored post <Done! I was lucky that it came to me,        but I really want to do more outreach in April
  • Read at least two books <YES! It was a little slow-going (especially with the last book        I read, The Housekeeper by Suellen Dainty)
  • Stop stressing about circumstances beyond my control; send more things out        into the universe for guidance <Always a work in progress for me <3
  • Head back to the gym and stick with a workout plan that works. For realz this time        <I’m not crossing this one off yet either because I have a lot of work to do
  • Be honest with myself about my needs. Say no when I can’t and yes when I want <I        will consider this an achievement; I’ve been getting better at listening to my own        wants/needs

I like the idea of keeping these lists short and simple, so I’m going to focus on that for my April goals. Here they are:

  • Read two books (much more feasible than the book a week goal I initially set)
  • Work on improving my Instagram theme and focus on a Pinterest strategy
  • Start process of home buying (or at least, the “where are we living next” talks)
  • Take more meditative walks
  • Reach out to brands for sponsored posts
  • Cook more at home (I’ve been spending way too much money on takeout lately)

What are some of your goals this month, bloggers? Let me know in the comments!

I like the idea of taking meditative walks. I feel like I usually bring my phone along with me on walks around the neighborhood (or even walks from my desk to the bathroom!).
There’s something about walks in silence that bring about a spark of creativity or inspiration. I need to do more of them as well this month 🙂

Cook at home – I am so with you on that! As a part of our new budget we took a look at how much we’re spending on eating out – it’s too much, that’s for sure. So that is our goal too. And I love the idea of meditative walks. I should really try that. I hope you have a wonderful week!

I miss reading. Hoping once the move is done that I will spend more time reading.
I have been obsessed with cooking lately. I spend most weekends prepping for the week. I love it! Since Mr. J and I still live apart I usually cook meals for him for the week. If you enjoy cooking then what I recommend is stocking your pantry with staples so you don’t have to keep running to the store.
I tried to get back to the gym but that lasted about a month. Good for you sweetie!!

Love your goals! You did great in March. Pinterest is a goal of mine this month too! There is so much to learn and so many ways it is used efficiently. I just have to get on the ball.

Tamara April 10, 2017, 12:12 PM

I’m going to reach out to brands too. My big goal for 2017 was getting more people to read my blog. It only took a few months but I’m finally happy with the pageviews finally going to where I think they should be. You are my sensei with that!
Happy Spring because it actually feels like it!

Eli@CoachDaddy April 10, 2017, 12:54 PM

I think you should write a post about the best way to approach a company about a sponsored post. I always struggle with that! I’m with you on the meditative walk, for sure.

Nice job with March. Stress is a constant work in progress for me too. It looks like you’ve got some great ideas for April. My Instagram is all over the place, but maybe that’s my brand?! Ha!

Charlotte, I have thought about giving bullet journaling a try, as a way to stay organized. But I think I like the simplistic of your monthly goals instead! Man, I could really use some organization!

Great job for checking off so many goals last month! I’ve loved sharing my goals on the blog because it makes me want to see them through. Good luck with your April goals! <3

I’m with you on the walking and cooking. Both lift our energy levels.

I love that you have walks on your list… Let me know how Pinterest goes for you. I’ve been a slacker there and every time I go to my site, I plan to do more but don’t. Here’s to a great April.

Now that the weather is mostly better – still getting random rain of course- I really need to find time to get out and walking. I really need to try being more active! It’s just not really my thing. LOL I’d rather sit outside and just read.

Best of luck with all of your goals! I’m hoping to grow my Usborne business more; mainly get more parties in the work, etc. If you know anyone that wants to do a FB party, let me know! I also want to do more sponsored posts but I feel like I need to build up my social media/numbers a bit more before people will really agree to work with me.

Meditative walks sound lovely! I need the rain to stop so I can walk outside 🙂

Good job, Charlotte! I can’t believe April is one third gone -in a blink I might add! It’s been a weird month for me thus far. I’ve been on a restful week because I had a minor surgical procedure last week (all went well). So, I’ve been off exercise and miss yoga 😛 That said, I’ve made massive progress on my editing for my short story collection! It’s almost ready to go back for final pro edit. Cover choice and then publishing….yay! Good for you for getting your goals accomplished, Charlotte. Listening to your own needs and knowing when to say ‘no’ is a biggie!

Great goals!! I agree you were brave to take on the book a week challenge, I’m lucky if I manage to squeeze in one a month, and then even with staying in bed an hour just to chill and read every sunday morning… it’s still a struggle to get through one! Hope you’re having a fabulous week xx

Anthea April 11, 2017, 5:17 AM

Love this idea of monthly goals. I’ve also set myself a goal of reading more 🙂

Trish @ The Trish List April 11, 2017, 12:59 PM

Great goals! I love that you are working on you and what works best for you first. I also agree on taking more meditative walks. They are so nice to get out in nature and just be. Now that the weather is changing I am all got spending my time out in nature alone. My book goals have been a little roller coaster like lately. I get into a reading rut then read 3 books and back to the rut. Good luck with your April goals!

Love these! You are making such amazing progress with your blog, that is awesome! You inspire me to get a roll on this sponsored post thing (I did 2 but they were both for oriental trading) Do you use your happy planner? I have been slacking on making mine “pretty” lately, but just planned out my next 2 weeks in it this weekend because the months of april and may are going to be crazy for me =o

Dani April 11, 2017, 2:00 PM

First off, I love your planner 🙂 I purchased my first one this year, and think I may only get these in the future! I like the idea of “read 2 books” instead of weekly too. Some weeks just get busy, or the book drags! I need to cook more at home as well. I actually don’t even remember the last time I did a full-out grocery haul *insert see no evil monkey emoji*!

Sarah April 14, 2017, 2:40 PM

I have been big into reading lately. Something I always have loved but when I get too busy it falls by the wayside. I also love crystal baths for relaxing 🙂
