It’s almost been a full week since I’ve returned and I’m still feeling a bit loopy. I don’t know if this is a combination of jetlag or diving full force into work and life but I’m trying desperately to clutch on to memories of my recent trip before they fade slowly in the distance. I’m beginning to understand when people say they need a vacation from their vacation (though I promise I’m not complaining!).
Holland is a really beautiful country. Bryan and I have really silly bickerfests all the time about which country is better (he’s the proud Dutchman while I’m fiercely loyal to my German roots) but the truth of the matter is—there is simply no comparison. Each country has a rich history, warm people, and beautiful attractions. I know there’s no way to do and see it all, but we had a really comprehensive journey through Holland’s many historical and culturally relevant sites… but that’s not always what stands out for me at the end of a vacation.
These are the pictures that make me giggle the most because they are so bizarre.
Like their peanut butter. Why the cricket? Is that appealing and/or appetizing in Holland?
Guys. Hagel Slag (my new favorite word combination). For your breakfast breads.
Creepy and naked earthy hipster babies?
Even creepier—cats in costumes (I’ll be honest, I kind of wanted one of these prints though).
Actually, I take that back. This is what nightmares are made of.
I’ll just let these photos do the talking.
Also this one, because it made me giggle. Here I am clearly getting upstaged by the couple in the letter “D.”
And there you have it. Sadly I have no photographic evidence of the man in a banana costume dancing on a water boat though it was certainly a highlight.
