I never leave the apartment without lip balm. When I do, I feel incredibly naked and exposed and I usually have to ask to use someone else’s, which is awkward since it’s one of those items apparently no one likes to share. Sometimes I think it’s akin to asking for a tampon or to use someone’s deodorant.
Anyway, the moral is, I can never have enough lip balm.
I was really excited when I received a sample in the mail just last week from a company called Cocotier Beauty. They had me at “all natural” and “no animal testing”—two things I’m always looking for on labels when choosing the right beauty/makeup products.
This is not your fancy-schmancy, goopy lip balm, y’all. It goes on smooth and is very bare bones (no fragrance, no residue). After trying it for a week I can say that it lasts about an hour and does leave lips feeling smooth and nourished. There are three ingredients on the label (another bonus): coconut, beeswax, and olive oil. All Cocotier Beauty products are made in the USA and are based on the aforementioned nurturing coconut oil—a natural antibacterial, anti-fungal moisturizer.
I’m really impressed with this product, but also with the company itself, their belief system, and their grassroots effort to keep beauty simple and limited to the most basic ingredients. Check out their products online (I’m excited to try their body butter next) and don’t forget to follow them on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram!
I was not compensated for this post. I received a sample of Cocotier Lip Balm in exchange for this review. All opinions are entirely my own.
