There are just some stories you come across that touch you profoundly and immediately. Deidre’s story is one I felt compelled to share, not only because it was personally sent to me from a friend but because I can’t imagine the medical expenses that are piling up for her family… or the fact that the matriarch is suddenly fighting to overcome significant obstacles in her life and return to some semblance of normalcy (not to mention her first real meal of a cheeseburger and Diet Coke!).
Back in March, Deidre had surgery to remove a benign tumor at the base of her brain stem and spinal cord. But there were complications shortly thereafter–she had a “nick” in her vertebral artery which resulted in intracranial bleeding at the base of her brain and she suffered a stroke.
Her friends and family have set up Deidre’s Fund to offset the many medical expenses that the Beirne family now faces–including in-home care, home renovations, physical therapy, medical equipment, etc. They are almost halfway to their fundraiser goal but there are still so many hurdles ahead for them. Please share her YouCaring page or donate however you can to help spread the word about this family.
Thank you all, my sweets.
