Thank God for awesome blog friends like Date Girl of The Diary of Mrs. Match who tagged me in a meme at just the right time (see When Inspiration Fails). She knew I’ve been struggling with my post frequency lately and she was thoughtful enough to give me something to write about. Date Girl is totally awesome and about 30 weeks pregnant so go on and show her some love!
What were you doing 10 years ago?
Ten years ago I was freshly graduated and sailing around Europe. I think (if memory serves, and mind you, I can barely remember what I did over the weekend), that roughly 10 years ago I was in Amsterdam with some college buddies. I was also following the band Phish around later that summer. Here is a picture taken in Limestone, Maine, at the giant “IT” festival (aside from the hair color, I don’t think I’ve changed too much).
1) Visit the following places: Scotland, Ireland, India, Greece, Tahiti, Africa, Costa Rica, and Japan (not necessarily in that order). I’d also like to revisit Paris with my love (though I’ve been there before, it’s not quite the same when you’re with family and friends).
2) Move to a place with a backyard so I can take in several foster dogs at once.
3) Make a baby (or two).
4) Attend a blog conference.
5) Start working on that book I put down so long ago…
What are 5 snacks you enjoy?
1) Veggie nachos
2) Apples and peanut butter
3) Carrots and hummus
4) Toast and cheese
5) Avocados and radishes sprinkled with sea salt and olive oil.
Name some things you would do if you were a millionaire.
I’d love to buy some land and open an animal sanctuary (that would be my #1). Travel more. Worry less. Give back. Open a savings account, and like, save and stuff. Follow Phish some more. Reread On the Road and trace Kerouac’s steps, eating apple pie at every stop. Treat my family to a vacation (we haven’t all traveled together since the 80s).
Name some places you have lived.
Heidelberg, Germany. Albany. New York. Jersey.
Name some bad habits you have.
Like Date Girl, I have a very difficult time shutting down. It seems lately, I’m always attached to the computer or phone and I check obsessively for updates. Working on that.
Name some jobs you have had.
I have worked in a pharmacy, nursing home, campus library and bookstore, Italian restaurant, children’s book publishing company, book publishing company, children’s entertainment company (I bowed out of this when I was asked to be a singing telegram), a German broadcast company, and a women’s magazine. Oh! And I may have briefly worked for the mafia (fuhgetabout it!).
I won’t tag anyone specifically but you are all invited to join in, my sweet ones!
