I’ve never been a fan of the almighty high heel. We just never saw eye-to-eye. There was that one incident at a fancy shmancy party where I came crashing down a flight of stairs and managed to spill food all over the walls and my ex boyfriend’s back (talk about embarrassing). Or that other time I landed on my back while standing in place in a parking lot. I think girls who say they are just as comfortable as wearing flats are a) delusional and b) the same girls who claim they can’t feel thongs riding up their ass.
A few weeks ago I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding. And I panicked. What if I’m that girl again? The one who limps down the aisle because she’s incredibly uncomfortable in her high heeled shoes? The one who falls face forward while attempting to catch the bouquet? Thankfully neither of these things happened. But there did come a point in the evening where I kicked off the heels, pulled out my trusty Birkenstocks and busted a move on the dance floor.
Cute? Not so much.
I want to have a better relationship with my high heels. I must have at least 5 pairs in my closet and they stare back and taunt me whenever I walk by. They are so ridiculously SEXY. My feet WANT to like them.
I recently discovered a product that might change the way I view stiletto heels. Foot Petals is a brand that promises to add comfort to any shoe with their line of shoe cushions and shoe inserts. I had to try them out on a pair of heels to see if they would pass the “elephant in a porcelain store” test (AKA “The Charlotte”). I applied the Stiletto Shieldz to the outside of the heels to prevent scuffs and nicks. They worked like a charm. I was actually able to maneuver around without a problem and stand in them for a lot longer than usual.
Foot Petals offers a wide assortment of shoe cushions for any shoe/need. This line features Strappy Strips which keep straps in place (simply add them to the inside of a strap on a heeled shoe to avoid an evening of red marks and rubbing). Pressure Pointz are small shoe cushions for wicked witch shoes that women can stick in a specific spot to create a layer between their shoe and skin. Or try the Killer Kushionz which help keep your foot in place without sliding forward to prevent toe cramping. The Heavenly Heelz shoe cushions are great for any shoe that is too big or cuts the back of your heel.
Here’s hoping I don’t end up flying down another staircase.
