“Remind me again why I’m doing this right now?” Bryan was surrounded on all sides by neat little piles of the Christmas tree, ornaments, and decorations. Christmas had officially vomited all over our living room carpet.
“Aren’t your friends going to be here any minute?”
“I want something festive and happy to look at. I need to get into the fuckin’ holiday spirit!” I yelled at everything and nothing in particular. Jesus, I thought, I have officially cracked.
“Uhhh okay…” Bryan tsk-tsked me and returned to stuffing the sad little tree branches into their rightful sockets.
For the past few days I’ve been making the strangest offbeat comments. Things like, “I’m such a loser! I’m eating oatmeal in the dark!” sound a lot better in my head than they do when I’m sobbing into the phone with a coworker after finding out I’d soon be out of a job. Emotions have been at an all-time high and all over the place.
But I’m determined to make good of an otherwise shitty situation because I will not be a Scrooge for my favorite time of year. Also there’s something very comforting and ceremonial about digging out all of the ornaments I’ve collected over the years. I even allowed myself to reminisce about some of my favorites and new trimmings for the tree—like the “Buster’s 1st Christmas 2014” ornament Bryan and I picked out and had personalized in a holiday shop in the village after we’d made the adoption final.
The other day Bryan reminded me of something important—we have Buddha on our side and good karma in the bank. That should count for something, right?!
So my dear readers, in honor of the festivus ahead of us, I am pleased to announce a really awesome giveaway today for a handbag of your choice from Shop Suey Boutique. ALL of their bags are vegan (and incredibly adorable as you’ll soon discover). When I heard that I would get one to review, it took me hours to pick just one—seriously, there are some cute items on here (and just in time for your holiday shopping).
Does it look like I’m freezing? Because, yes. I’m freezing.
I ended up choosing the Nancy Tote in Wine (which for some reason is no longer available on the website so sadly I can’t add a link), and I do want to tell you about my experience with Shop Suey. Customer service is really spectacular (and friendly) and I love that my bag arrived in a protective shell. Also there are so many interior pockets for phones, keys, etc. While I like my bags roomy, I also want to find what I’m looking for quickly and easily. This bag does that. It looks like a high-end bag, and there are some nice gold details that have help up for me so far.
Want to win a bag of your own? Tell me your favorite and enter the Rafflecopter below! Good luck, friends!
